Olga J. Gomez Siegert, MD

Dr. Gomez Siegert is a Neurologist and Stroke Specialist. She was born in Caracas, Venezuela. From early childhood she expressed her interest in becoming a Medical Doctor to help relieve people from suffering, and shortly after graduating from high school, she began her journey to become a physician after being accepted into the 'Luis Razetti' School of Medicine at Universidad Central De Venezuela (Central University of Venezuela). She completed her medical school training in one of the most prestigious Medical Schools in the country, and served the community in her native city of Caracas for 7 years as a general practitioner in several specialties and settings, including dialysis/nephrology, endocrinology, hospital medicine and emergency department.

 

Dr. Gomez Siegert then arrived in the United States to pursue her post-graduate training and completed her Neurology Residency at Tulane University. She served as Chief Resident in her last year of training, won the “Outstanding Humanitarian and Patient Advocate Award” and “The Golden Plunger Award – for the fastest tPA door-to-needle time” at the end of her Neurology training.

 

Dr. Gomez Siegert then trained as a Vascular Neurologist at Tulane University Medical Center, a comprehensive stroke center that treats a wide variety of patients with neurological illnesses coming from Louisiana and Mississippi. She is also passionate about education and won an award for “Best Neurology Resident” provided by the Tulane University School of Medicine to Residents and Fellows that demonstrate excellence in teaching.

Dr. Gomez Siegert is Board Certified in Neurology and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. She is also a member of the American Heart Association.
