John Lyle Gomez, MD 


Dr. John Lyle Gomez is a neurologist and epilepsy specialist. Born and raised in the Philippine islands, Dr. Gomez obtained his medical degree at the University of the Philippines, where he graduated cum laude. He then completed four years of Neurology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. He stayed on for another year at UT Houston to complete an Epilepsy Track Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship.


Dr. Gomez is passionate about education and patient care. He has mentored numerous medical students and residents, and he received the Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award from the UT Houston McGovern Medical School Class of 2017.


Dr. Gomez believes that education can empower patients, their families and health care staff to ensure optimal outcomes for people with neurological disorders. He is particularly interested in establishing an epilepsy monitoring unit, where patients with epilepsy can be thoroughly evaluated in a controlled, inpatient setting, and the possibility of a surgical option for select cases can be further investigated.


Dr. Gomez is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Epilepsy Society.
